Poultry Feed Ingredient Increasing Bird Health and Crop Cycle
Our BioComplex is 100% Ascophyllum Nodosum (derived from marine algae) processed by Ekogea’s microbiologists in a unique way to produce BCxF. When administered to birds via drinking water BCxF gives both increased weight gain and a large reduction in ammonia and Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S) in the faeces resulting in healthier and stronger birds.
IMPROVED BIRD PERFORMANCE

BioComplex improves feed conversion rates (FCRs) and daily live weight gain. High performing farms see up to a 4% increase in clearance weights and greater increases have been seen in birds grown in older poultry houses.
BETTER BIRD HEALTH

Improved growth rates mean less time to reach target weights. Crop cycles have shortened by up to 2 days
ENHANCED BIRD WELFARE

BioComplex reduces the amount of ammonia birds emit on farm and into the environment. General improvement in bird health and lower ammonia emissions result in lower levels of hock burn and pododermatitis.
POSITIVE IMPACT ON CLIMATE CHANGE

Lower ammonia emissions help to reduce the impact on climate change and also meet the demands of the Environment Agency (EA), Natural Resources Wales (NRW) and the Scottish Environment Protection Agency (SEPA).
IMPROVED GUT HEALTH

BioComplex works as a prebiotic in the lower gut of birds. It ‘competitively excludes’ the bad microbes and encourages the proliferation and production of good microbes.
REDUCED ANTIBIOTIC TREATMENTS

BioComplex helps poultry resist infection from pathogens and toxins. Farms have seen a significant reduction in the use of antibiotic treatments when using it.
"By adding Ekogea’s BCxF to our bird’s water in selected sheds over several crops, we have seen improvements in food conversion and growth rates in the majority of those sheds, gaining us the equivalent of up to an extra two days of weight gain per crop over the control sheds"
SC, Broiler Farmer, Devon
"When we used BCxF in our sheds we were astounded by the huge reduction of Pododermatitis and hockburn"
GP - Shropshire Farmer
“Since using BioComplex [BCxF] bird health has improved and, with weight increase, lower mortality, coupled with a much improved feed conversion rate, the financial gains have far outweighed the cost of the product”
South West Farmer
FAQs
Gaseous Ammonia (NH3) precipitates nitric acid which causes burns outside (such as hock burn & pododermatitus) and enterically (in the animal intestine) leading to poor bird health. Ammonia gas can also cause problems with bird health and environmental compliance – and unpleasant working conditions for farmers.
BCxF propagates the conversion of gaseous NH3 into a non-volatile NH4 significantly reducing Ammonia odour, helping achieve environmental compliance, reducing neighbourhood complaints and improving bird health. Also improving the environment of the house and the quality of the litter for anaerobic digestion or fertiliser use.
BCxF is clean and safe to use. Pre-diluted with fresh water and then dosed through a Dosatron® or similar device to give a final 1:10,000 dilution. For example, a 1:200 pre-dilution (in a standard 1,000 litre IBC container) would then be dosed at 2%, or 1:100 pre-dilution dosed at 1%.
BCxF changes the chemical structure of Ammonia Gas (NH3) to Ammonium (NH4). Which in practice means a reduction in the harmful Ammonia. It does this by using Polyuronic Acid containing high negative cations and chelated trace elements in the BCxF to buffer unwanted heavy metals which convert NH3 to NH4 to reduce Ammonia.
Oligosaccharides in the BCxF contain simple sugars which feed the bacteria and enhance the growing environment allowing the positive bacteria to ‘crowd out’ (competitively exclude) the negative bacteria.
The alkaline nature of BCxF lines the gut wall with sodium bicarbonate (NaHCO3). The oligosaccharides within BCxF prepare the gut with sugar and carbon to build biological activity for improved animal health enhancing feed conversion ratio and growth rates.
We believe our alkaline approach to be unique in the market place.
