Anaerobic Digestion
Ecotricity, the world’s first green energy company, recently announced that it has begun construction of its latest renewable energy innovation – a green gas mill, which will make gas from grass.
Its first of a kind biogas plant is now being built near Reading in Berkshire. Once fully operational in early 2023, it will provide all the gas needs of 4000 local homes – every year.
We’re delighted to report that Ekogea, and our innovative solutions for maximizing gas yield in the anaerobic digestion process, will be at the heart of this “Grass to Gas” innovation.
Our award-winning performance enhancement solutions to maximise AD biogas outputs will help Ecotricity create commercially viable gas yields from their unique mixture of herbal lays as their feedstock – a mix of grass and herbs, sown and grown on farmland next to the plant.
This Green Gas can then be fed directly into the existing gas grid, providing a sustainable alternative to fossil fuels in an efficient and cost effective way.
We’re proud to be a part of this innovation and it highlights our commitment to be at the heart of the future of sustainable agriculture.
Ecotricity have produced a promotional video on their Grass to Gas initiative:
