Meet the Directors

PHIL HUGHES

Management Team, Animal Health, AD/Biogas, Crops
Phil Hughes

Philip is a senior executive specialising in rural property, agriculture and renewable energy.

 

As Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (Rural), Fellow of the Association of Agricultural Valuers, Nuffield Farming Scholar (NSch) and Bsc (Hons) in Rural Enterprise and Land Management, Philip has the skills and track record of developing and growing successful businesses. Philip works closely with clients and stakeholders to ensure best outcomes, equally focused on product development as commercial solutions, delivered in a time sensitive manner.

 

Philip lead the charge for Ekogea UK with a commitment in 2017 to build a ‘trial’ 200kW AD plant at his family farm Hendwr to demonstrate the effectiveness of BioComplex with great success. 

IAN SAWLE

Management Team, AD/Biogas
Ian Sawle

Ian is the technical genius in the Ekogea team. He has been involved with thermal insulation and fluid mechanics for many years and has an ‘in depth’ knowledge of mechanical and electrical design philosophy, dynamic thermal performance and thermal modelling.

Over the last 10 years he has obtained a wealth of experience designing and commissioning renewable energy solutions in the Biomass, CHP and Anaerobic Digestion markets.

 

He is a qualified mechanical Engineer and is a member of a number of professional bodies including ASHRA, CSA and CIBSE. His forward thinking approach enables him to design practical solutions to complex problems quickly and easily. As a result, he targeted Ekogea as a natural partner for the AD and waste to energy market and is now in charge of the technical design aspects of Ekogea UK to ensure the product work seamlessly with both existing and new plants.

 

Outside work Ian is a qualified rugby coach and keen hill walker with a young family keeping him well occupied.

DAVID COSFORD

Management Team, Farm Slurry Management, Animal Health, Crops

With a background in commercial banking and sales, David has built up a wealth of knowledge in the renewable energy market over the last 10 years as Managing Director of 5D Group.

 

Focussed on the commercial and sales side of the business, he has worked closely with clients helping them target and install the renewable energy options best suited to them. With a team focussed more latterly on ensuring plants work efficiently in the Biomass and Anaerobic Digestion sector, David has focussed on the Waste to Energy market with fellow Director Ian Sawle. Together they have built a ‘trusted’ reputation that thrives on making renewable energy projects work for their clients.

 

Ekogea was identified as a natural partner and extension to their core activity in the AD market and David’s role is focussed on developing the sales team as well as overseeing the financial management.

 

Outside work David enjoys cycling and walking and also supports charitable causes by organising an annual European Charity Bike ride for the Exeter Chiefs and as Chairman of the Royal Marines Shop.

IAN CAIN

Management Team, Head of Legal
Ian Cain

Ian is a former partner-level lawyer, tax adviser and financial adviser to family businesses in the UK and abroad.  Ian has operational trading and advisory experience in various sectors through non-executive director board and trustee appointments.

 

Strong legal and professional contacts internationally have helped Ian to access best advice and best solutions for the businesses he’s supported and grown through a focus on strategy and forward planning strong governance and ‘best practice’ generally.

 

Ian qualified as a lawyer in 1996, enjoyed 8 years at Eversheds and later appointed Tax Partner at Boodle Hatfield and Executive Director at Goldman Sachs in London.

 

Ian has a STEP Advanced Certificate in Family Enterprise Advising and is a strong supporter of Britain’s rural heritage and the environment.

Meet the Team

MIKE CLARKE

Head of Animal Health
Mike Clarke

Mike joined Ekogea in 2017 as Agricultural Project Development Manager.

 

Mike has many years experience in the livestock industry, as a farmer and consultant in both feed and animal production as well as spending several years in the project development of large scale Anaerobic Digestion schemes. He has been involved in the development of the animal health arm of Ekogea since its inception, working initially with broiler producers and now broadening the use of BioComplex into the pig industry as well as other poultry sectors.

 

His passion outside of work is his garden and ever increasing population of animals!

MITCH STALLEY

Senior Biogas Engineer
Mitch Stalley

Mitch joined Ekogea in 2022 to improve our Biogas Customer Services in the South and West of the UK.

Mitch has an impressive technical background and specialist experience on Anaerobic Digestion enhancement solutions and Waste Water Treatment (having worked with Wessex Water and elsewhere in the industry).

 

Mitch is Bristol based and will support Ekogea site work across our projects and partners in the South and Midlands. 

ED SWASH

Mechanical Design Engineer
Ed Swash

Ed has a degree in Mechanical Engineering specialising in Thermo-Fluid dynamics, alongside valuable industry experience. Ed will play an important role linking both on-site customer facing work with desk-based support, mainly from Ekogea’s Plymouth office.

AMY CARTER

Finance & Office Administrator
Amy Carter

Amy officially joined the Ekogea team in 2022, after many years experience in Financial and Managerial roles within the Renewable Energy sector.

 

Amy has been involved in Ekogea since incorporation in 2017, initially as Consultant Financial Controller, and has had a wider role with the team since 2013. Amy grew up in Bath and moved to Devon in 2007, where she worked in an Accounts Practice as Senior Client Services Manager.

 

She has experience in all aspects of accounting and company administration, with strong financial troubleshooting and IT systems experience. Amy has been invaluable in helping refine Ekogea’s systems and procedures internally, as well as providing friendly client support.

 

Outside of work, Amy is kept busy with her three boys, and the family loves exploring new beaches and walks throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Meet the Founder

GORAN DORDIC

Chief Scientist
Goran Dordic

Inventor and microbiologist with extensive field experience following his invention of BioComplex – a disruptive biological tool which enhances biological processes.  Goran spent the last 20 years testing and effectively applying BioComplex as a microbiological tool in a variety of industry sectors. 

 

Goran has acted as Chief Scientist to EKO GEA Nejc Ðorđič s.p. in Slovenia which role has included oversight of production, product development and technical and consultative sales support internationally, across all sectors.

 

Professional posts include CINKARNA, Metalurško-kemična Industrija in Slovenia where Goran had project management, product development and technical sales roles within Cinkarna’s international oil and gas business.

Goran has a Masters in Biology from the Biotechnical Faculty, University of Ljubljana and a Masters of Science – Microbiology. Goran’s role within Ekogea UK is non-executive and advisory.
